    Bird's Eye Maple is correct. Bird's Eye is a 'defect' in Sugar Maple, but a very valuable defect. Here is a link to more info http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bird's_eye_figure

    I have a beautiful table that was in my finnish grandmothers homes from Ramsay to Wakefield to Ironwood over the years. It now resides in Grand Rapids, MI
